I knew this day would come when I vowed to post an entry a day. Well, it’s here.

I can’t say I have an interesting thought on me right now. Either that, or I’m just too tired to process the beginnings of an interesting thought.

But in the spirit of NaBloPoMo, here’s my Thursday:

Got up at 7 to tell Rob it was 7 (he theoretically should leave by 7 but overslept).

Snuggled with Lucky till I realized how lazy that was despite how comfy it was.

Got both Lucky and myself out of bed and went for a walk with frost on the grass. I plopped a hat on my head and went for it, visible breath and all. I did live in Ohio most of my life and spent three and a half years walking around BGSU’s freezing winter campus with insane wind gusts. A frosty NC morning certainly was nothing in comparison.

It wasn’t. The walk was actually pretty nice. Plus, your body has to work harder in the cold, right? Which means I burned more calories, right? Just let me believe that.

Drove to work in semi-pleasant traffic.

Worked.

Left work early to try and beat the bad traffic home. I actually made it home in 40 minutes, but then I had to turn around and head to Rob’s work. That drive took an hour and 20 minutes.

It was during that time that I tried calculating how much time I spend in my car. I came up with an average of 10ish hours a week. And that’s if I don’t do much on the weekend. Sick.

Went to a dinner for Rob’s work. Ate good food. Had good conversations with his bosses’ wives (who I suppose are also Rob’s bosses).

Drove back home.

Realized I hadn’t blogged yet.

I think that about catches you up on my thrilling Thursday. My only other plans for tonight are to get back in bed and snuggle more with Lucky.

Life sure is exciting.

I have not made it home from work this week in less than an hour and 15 minutes. On a traffic-free day, I can make the drive in 15-20 minutes.

I’ve had it up to here (picture me jumping and pointing well above my head) with Charlotte traffic.

Yet there’s nothing I can do about it, since I don’t own a helicopter that would allow me to fly over the complete idiots who clog up our roadways. Complete. Idiots.

Today I took route No. 3 home in hopes of avoiding whatever it is that is stopping up the freeway and route No. 2, a back-road route. (I took the freeway Monday, the back roads yesterday.) Route No. 3 had me sticking to a state highway.

I have to admit it really wasn’t the plan. I wasn’t paying attention to my turns (I turned the opposite way getting out of the parking lot to try and go around the stopped-up traffic there) and ended up on the state highway.

I honestly used the brake pedal more than the gas pedal for 75 percent of the trip home. And as I neared World Market, my nerves were so shot that I HAD to stop.

And since I was hungry, I bought some delicious World Market popcorn. It’s so good, but so not good for you. Well, me.

So now I’m cranky because of the drive and because I inhaled some popcorn. Though I’m not planning on letting it ruin my WW points for the day, it’ll just be counted as part of my dinner.

Still. You’re reading the blog of a currently cranky girl.

Oh, and I’ve added that helicopter to my Christmas list. Pretty please?

The last entry I posted is probably one of those times. It kind of made sense at the time, but at the time, my mind was a little frazzled from making a late run to Target and realizing I hadn’t blogged yet for the day. The result is what you see below. It falls remarkably short of brilliance, but it does mimic my brain at any given moment.

Not literally, but you might think I do if you saw me outside right now. Since when was 50 degrees this cold?

For the first time since moving South, I’m thankful for the lack of the early Ohio winter. Don’t get me wrong. I love snow. I probably love snow as much as your average kid does. But I’ve finally learned what fall is thanks to North Carolina, and I’m sure grateful we have had 60-degree temperatures during the day and not a forecast for 3-5 inches of snow like my sweet home of Northeast Ohio has for today.

That doesn’t mean I want to entirely replace winter with that last bit of fall that’s chilly combined with the first bit of chilly spring (because that’s generally what I’ve experienced here). I’d still happily take a good month or two of true winter, of snowstorms, of blowing and drifting and of “blizzard-like conditions.”

About that cold 50 degrees outside as I type. I recall many times in early spring when temperatures would breach the 50-degree mark and I’d break out my flip flops. Not today. No sir, no way. In fact, I’m thanking God for my heated car seats and rushing to get from heated vehicle to heated building.

I’m definitely getting spoiled by the Southern warmth. I shouldn’t be shivering at 50 degrees. After all, my Ohio body should be used to preparing for snow right about now. It is November, after all!

That’s a moo point, though, because 50 degrees is freezing cold to me today, and I’m ever so thankful I don’t have to find my snow brush just yet.

I parted my hair on the opposite side this morning. After seeing a recent picture of myself, I decided my normal part didn’t really look all that good. That’s what I blamed the icky picture on, at least.

You wouldn’t think a minor change like this would make any difference. But it does. I feel cooler air on my head where I normally don’t feel any air. The hair that hangs in my face is hanging on the wrong side.

Plus, it just feels weird, a little like I’ve gone lopsided or something.

As for the look? I’m liking what I see so far. No final verdict yet, but I’ll stick with it for now.
