Each morning when I pack my lunch, I always pack an afternoon snack – usually cheese or fruit, sometimes a Luna bar. My problem is I usually (OK, always) end up eating that with lunch bc I’m hungry and think I need more than what was intended to be my lunch. Then I’m ravenous by the time I get home – an average of two hours before Rob is home for dinner – and I end up snacking on more than I should because I’m hungry for dinner.
So I know that I need an afternoon snack. I just can’t get past eating all I’ve packed for the day at lunchtime.
This sounds completely ridiculous, and I know the fix has more to do with self control than anything else, but any tips, words of wisdom or kicks in the pants are much appreciated – much needed, really.
Help me get out of this bad habit! I have a sneaking suspicion it’s got a ton to do with my standstill (or really slow) weight loss.
For whatever reason, it never occurred to me that I was getting a tattoo on a relatively exposed area that I usually keep, um, hair free. Thanks to my new “injury,” I can’t shave that spot on my leg. It’s kind of gross.
And to make matters worse, people seem to want to touch my tattoo. Why? I don’t know. I wouldn’t touch a scabbing injury on someone else’s skin. So not only are they touching scabbed over skin, they’re touching prickly skin.
It’s just gross. I feel gross. But what can I do? Tell you all about it, that’s what. Oh, and just wait patiently till my tattoo is done healing so I can resume my normally scheduled grooming routine.
Ridiculous.
Sigh. 152.2 again. Truth be told, that’s better than what my scale has been saying. Well, kind of.
Back up. Before last weekend (May 9ish), my scale was reading in the 151s. Sweet, right? Yes. Then we went home last weekend, and I ate my favorite bad-for-me foods that I can only get back home. I didn’t overeat them, but I did eat them. And then I had McDonald’s three times because we were on the road at meal times. And I also had more diet pop (soda to my not-NE Ohio readers) than I’ve had in two months.
So all of that put together spelled about a two-pound gain come Tuesday morning. Lovely.
I’m back to eating more like normal, though, and have had a couple workouts since then.
So here we are again at 152. We’ll be on the beach in Mexico in 18ish days, and, while a number means nothing, for my own sanity (and to face the food at the resort), I’d like to drop at least another 4 lbs. before we leave. Definitely do-able, but only if my body cooperates. And only if I am diligent on working out and eating well.
Send me all the good vibes you can. I really need them!

It’s on the inside of my left ankle, and I’m glad I didn’t chicken out because I pretty much love my first (and possibly only) tattoo.
And even though it hurt like HELL, I’m proud that I went through with it without any tears (that left my eyes, at least). It’s a great permanent reminder to appreciate every day of my life and live it to the fullest – something I’m guilty of forgetting too often. Plus it’s blue and it has stars – two of my favorites!

We leave for Riviera Maya ONE MONTH FROM TODAY!!!!
I am so excited that I can hardly stand it. Sun, sand, tropical plants, turquoise water, food, drinks, quality time with friends … What’s not to love?
