The photo quality is horrendous, I know. Bear with me, I kinda don’t care today. I’m in a mood.
I’m killing two birds with one stone – three, actually. 1. Project 365, 2. McHealthy Monday, 3. a big thank you and shout out.
1. It’s me. In my kitchen. With a book. And a smile.
2. Those jeans I’m wearing are jeans I bought OH MY GOD almost two years ago. Old Navy was having a sale, so I bought three pairs in the same size, same cut, different colors. I didn’t try them on because I already owned a pair in the cut. I got them home, and one pair fit perfectly, one pair was snug, one pair wouldn’t even consider zipping. The jeans in this photo are those same jeans that would not zip.
I’ll let the jeans speak for my McHealthy week.
3. The book I’m cheesing with is “Cracked Up To Be,” by Courtney Summers, and it is a prize/gift/thank you from my good friend Jessica, whose blog, Forever Young, rocks my world. She recently gave her blog a giant facelift and asked her readers to help give the blog a new name. Yours truly won the naming contest, and for my prize, instead of requesting a specific book title like Jessica offered, I asked for a surprise. Jessica and I have similar taste in our literary snacks, so I knew I couldn’t go wrong with something she chose.
If you’re a fan of Young Adult literature or if you need gift ideas for a young adult, cruise by and check out her most excellent book reviews and other book-related happenings.
Thanks for the book, Jess! I so look forward to reading it!

late-night kitty snuggles, from the being in our house least likely to snuggle – Rocky, the hellcat

It’s supposed to be thin streaks of color (this lighting sucks), but it’s hard to tell if it worked or if the rinse colored the rest of my hair as well. We shall see in the morn.
Please forgive my oh-so-sexy comfy clothes and poofy, un-did hair.
I’m late, late, late, and you can slap my wrist if you feel I need the punishment. I’ll have a photo for today later on this evening with the in-process or end results of Operation Fix The Hair. I’m keeping the wacky color, I’m just going to try to make it look like I didn’t let a kid fingerpaint in my hair.

IOU blog entries about these books

This photo is beyond ridiculous, and I might have had something better for you today if I hadn’t forgotten my camera at home or if I were in the mood to come up with something strikingly interesting.
Why, you ask, am I striking a “Let’s rumble and laugh about it” pose?
My buddy Suzanne passed onto me the Masters of Karate and Friendship Award. I didn’t understand the karate thing and figured there was a reason behind it, so I Googled – just not before I decided to show you how I’m decidedly NOT a master of karate (I think that’s the jab stance from my Tae-Bo days).
After I was done being a silly goose with my camera, I got to Googling and found that the award originated at Letters From Valentine, and it only started making its way around the blogosphere a couple short weeks ago.
Thus inspired a search to find how many degrees separate me from the award’s origins.
The answer? Eleven.
It started with Letters From Valentine and then traveled the following route until it ended up pointing to me: Handbags & Handguns, Dezzy Lou Where Are You; Tobin Tales; musing experiences; Lavender, Leopard, and Lace; Tales of a Southern Belle and Her Beau; Simplicity in Baltimore; In the pink; Sweet, Sassy, Southern and Classy; Classic Annie; Suz’s Treats, then me.
Part of the award is to tell you six things I’m master of. Without further ado, I am master of:
- finding a good deal
- sarcasm
- getting my husband to eat his veggies
- eating potatoes – sadly, this is a masterhood that’s a thing of the past … most of the time
- spelling
- making people laugh
I could pass this award on to random bloggers I follow, but that’s not really the point. I don’t think. The point is to recognize friends one has made through blogging, and I honestly don’t have any of those. Yet, at least.
In the spirit of moving a blog award along, I nominate you, readers. If you feel a cozy bond with me, an oversharing lunatic, grab the award and consider yourself a Master of Karate and Friendship.
