We are officially a house of teethers. We have the crabbiness, the sadness, the drool, the constant chewing.

A while back, Levi and Alyssa of Three Leaves Toys (and A New History) sent Toby, Eleanor and Callista personalized, first-initial teethers. When they first arrived, the babies were more interested in banging them against things and each others’ heads (on accident – they were really just waving them around and heads got in the way of their fun), so I put them up.

Callista was the first to grow teeth, then Toby. They each have five now while Eleanor, the Amazing Girl With Rubber Gums has nothing but a bump that’s been on her bottom gum for a few weeks.

It wasn’t until my dad pointed out teeth marks Toby is gnawing into our tables that I remembered the wooden teethers.

Now that they’re old enough to appreciate them, these things are brilliant. BRILLIANT. Toby can gnaw away on them without stripping (and eating) potentially harmful furniture finish, Callista has something other than books to chew on, and I’m hopeful Eleanor will chew away an opening for that pesky tooth to finally break through.

Check out Three Leaves Toys if you’ve got some teething babies close to your heart. They do handmade animals and other objects in addition to letters, and the wood is safe for little mouths while being easy on little hands.
