‘Twas a day of firsts

Other than our ride home from the NICU, we had our first outing with Toby, Eleanor and Callista (l-r). We had to go to the opthamologist. The babies have their eyes checked for blood-vessel development. This was their third eye exam (every other week beginning at 34 weeks corrected gestational age), but it was our first out of the hospital.
We were warned before their in-hospital exams that their days may turn to shit after, but they didn’t either time.
Today was different. They choked on their milk, they slept more than usual, they cried more than usual. It was just a more difficult day all around. That’s OK, though. We survived.
Anywho.
You’ll notice some super artistic labels on the photo. I have some pretties to show off! First, the babies all have pandas on their car seats. They’re black and white, and I hear that’s good for babies. They’re also good for me. Pandas hold a special place in my former-infertile heart (holler, Jen!). It’s a nice reminder, and the baby connection is special.
Next are soft, stylin’ hats from the lovely Mandy of Opal and Harper’s Happenings. Mandy found the hats on one of her thrifting excursions and thought they’d be perfect for my trio. It took some growing, but I think they are perfect!
I’m planning a photo illustration of their growth using the hats the babies have worn, bee tee dub. Maybe someday, right?
Essential to our day are the awesome Wubanubbs sent to the trio when they were still exclusively known as PB&J. Cole and his mommy picked out three cute Wubbies that the babies have been enjoying since they came home. Toby has a puppy, Eleanor has a kitty, and Callista has a giraffe. They love them, and so do we!
Finally, the babies are snuggled in their blankets, handmade by my mom. They’re flannel on one side and minky on the other, and they have a silky satin trim. I’m seriously placing a request for my own. Think I’m joking? Totally not.
Another first for today? Tummy time on the Boppies!

This was after their post-eye-exam meal. Have you seen sleepier babies? Zomg! (Callista, Toby, Eleanor, l-r)
Callista was fussy, fussy, fussy later on tonight, and nothing would make homegirl happy. I decided it was time to bust out the Moby loaned to me by my dear friend Sarah. A lot of people test drive their Mobys using stuffed animals, but all I had done prior to tonight was watch a video on YouTube.
I scoff at test drives. Happy baby, happy mommy!

I’m so hot in my nursing tank and glasses, no?
Pip, pip, dear readers! Have a fantastic night!

These pictures melt my heart. Seriously. I’m SO anti any more babies for our family right now but your pictures are KILLING my plans of holding off. So happy they are doing so well.
I LOVE that picture of tummy time, how freaking adorable is that.
oh the babies are so adorable!!!!! and you wearing the moby with wee-little-callista, sooo sweet!!!!
yeah for making it out of the house on your first trip!!!! sounds like you did just fine.
can i say again how darling they are?!!!!
That Boppy picture just killed me dead. C U U U T E.
Love that your babywearing–we loved that stage! Not to sound alarmist, and disregard at will, but until alex could really contol his head we kept his face turned to the side (his ear to our chest) to ensure no airflow issues. Enjoy keeping them so close
seriously want to cry that they are now big enough to wear those hats. YAY BABIES! also, you are adorable. and the boppy picture kills.
so i have to tell you that i am so super impressed with you!! one premie is an incredible, life-changing experience, but THREE???? oh. my. goodness. major props to you, friend.
also, i don’t have any kids, but my best friend from college had a 24 wk’er last year… and in 2 weeks, he’ll celebrate his 1 yr (from due date, not from birth”), and i hope this is encouraging to you, but he’s super healthy and meeting all his benchmarks. i know that hearing success stories makes my bff feel so encouraged, so i wanted to share that tid bit with you.
way to make it through the first day!! and congrats on being home!!
Oh my, that photo of them all slumped over the boppies is too cute. The boppies are a MUST HAVE, no? Also, the wearing of the babies is a must. Essential for one and so I gather essential for three! I even heard you can wear two at a time! I think we should see that trick someday.
But trying with one first is probably best 😉
Girl, I cannot believe how uppitty & sheerful (& energetic) you still are having your hands full x3! They are absolutely totally freaking adorable! Love the wubanubbs… and how do you like the Moby?
And you are one hot mama! 😉
^

You are so zen about this whole experience! I am so very inspired by you.
Love the pic of them sleeping on the Boppys. Too adorable.
Oh my heart. That picture of them snoozing on the boopys. I just want to hug you all. So adorable.
wubbanubs were such a love in this house when the kids were little! they dropped the paci thing around 9mo, but i loved those nubs! And the moby- awesome!!! loved mine!
Oh.my.word
Broken record here, but I LOVE the photos on the bobbies. I just want to snuggle them!! I am so impressed with the way you roll with the punches. You were made for trips, my dear. I am so addicted with your updates. I love seeing ETC get so big and strong! Tummy time? Can you imagine doing that just a few short weeks ago?
That boppy pillow is Ridiculous! They are so adorable!
Adorable my friend, absolutely adorable.
Ahh!!! I’m loving it! These kids are precious!
Those babies are so cute!
Also, I gotta say that I love that you are not doing everything matchy-matchy. They have similar stuff but its different. I’m a twin and we dressed a like until we were in like 4th or 5th grade. It’s nice to let them be a little different sometimes.
You look great, even in your nursing tank and glasses!
The picture in the carseats is precious!
omg – that picture on the boppys is adorable!!
huge fan of the moby wrap – you’ll love it.
Tears at the Boppy pic. I love Toby’s cute little wave in the carseat pic. You are smoking hot in previously mentioned nursing top and glasses. Xo
Something about the tummy time picture is making me seriously smile over here!
I can’t get enough pictures of these adorable babies! I love the tummy time pic!
Gorgeous! All around gorgeous! You are taking to this like a duck on water and your babies are just as cute and awesome as you!
They are so adorable! I can’t get enough of them! Tummy time picture was hilarious though:-)
Oh my goodness! The boppy picture? Adorable!
You are doing fantastic!
Aww…babies are adorable, and you look great! That tummy time picture is the cutest!
this makes me so happy to read! hope today is better!
I am so impressed at your ability to blog and take care of 3 babies. You amaze me! And, you look great for having given birth to 3 babies just a few weeks ago! Take time to take care of yourself!
I am in love with the Pandas …
I remember the photo you took while you were doing Project 365 … and to think of all the amazing things that have come from a little bit of hope!
They are beautiful and strong and amazing!
I love this post like WHOA. Carry on.
I’m so glad you like your wubbies! Confession: I *still* use mine in the car… Mommy and I love, love, loved our Moby, too – enough that once I grew out of it, we used other carriers – and still do! Daddy says we are babywearing addicts
Ditto to the above commenter who was amazed by your ability to care for 3 babies AND keep up on blogging. You are clearly some sort of superhero!
OMG the three sleeping babies- I am ded of the cute
Love this post & I can’t WAIT to see it again at home when I can actually view the photos.
Thanks for sharing with us.
Love that you are babywearing!! Way to go, mama! The benefits of babywearing are so huge for babies, especially preemies. In your free time (yah right!) check out thebabywearer.com It’s a free forum where you can find TONS of information on all things babywearing, including great info on wearing preemies and multiples. My moby was my “gateway” carrier, and we’ve now moved on to woven wraps (10 of them… ) – makes life with 1 bebe easier when your hands are free, I’d imagine it helps so much more with 3!
That Boppy picture. Omygosh. They are SO beautiful! As is their mom.
New reader. So glad to have found your blog via Twitter.
My twins were born at 33 weeks, so those pictures look semi familiar (though there’s an extra baby, which I can’t imagine, but wow, you are so blessed). They are so beautiful. And you are as well, you look great sporting that little one on the front of you. <3
Zomg!! Seriously Jenny! These babies slay me with their adorable snuggly need to be held by Alena cuteness!!!!
Ohhh I want to snuggle with them!!! You are doing a great job Momma!
They are too cute. I am so glad they are home and doing well.
OMgosh Jenny! That boppy pic is just the sweetest most perfect thing! It hit me in the heart how you really have them home FOR REAL! Hope the days that go to shit are few & far between for you :-p
Oh my word! I love the picture of all of them lounging on the Boppy’s! SO freakin’ adorable!
Just another person totally swooning in glee over the Boppy picture!! LOVE it!!
Aww, yay for babywearing!
And that picture of the three of them doing tummy-time… melt my heart!! They are adorable.
Jenny, I am so so much more happy for you than I could ever tell you. I’m just now catching up on your posts and couldn’t ask for anything better in the world to read about! Your babies are beautiful and you look amazing. Keep up the fantastic work. I hope we can all get together before too long. I think Naomi and Toby need to meet soon!
