PB&J are looking less and less like alien blobs and more and more like real, live HUMANS. Wee humans still, but you guys! There are three babies in there!

We had our first appointment with the MFM/perinatologist group today, and despite some more bleeding over the weekend (thank you, SCH), all three babes are present and accounted for. The doctor was impressed with the size of all three and says everything looks perfect for the four of us.

Rather than throw out some cookie-cutter number to restrict my activity or put me on bedrest, the doctor says they’ll be making decisions for that (among other things) on a visit-by-visit basis. I go back for another ultrasound in three weeks.

(The MFM/perinatologists will be monitoring the babies. Apparently keeping an eye on and keeping separate three babies in utero is a difficult task. Plus there’s that whole high-risk pregnancy thing. Wah wah wah.)

PB&J are starting to form little personalities. Poor Baby A is always squished at the bottom of the screen (I have no clue where that is if you were to ask me to point their locations out in person – the screen shows things sideways or upside down or SOMETHING).

(Oops. Sorry about that tangent. ANYHOW.)

So Baby A is squished at the bottom. At our last ultrasound and this one, Baby A was the least frantic mover. Sure, it did its fair share of kicks and flips and such, but Baby A is much more chill than its top bunkmates.

Except for just one second. Apparently Baby A got a little frustrated being squished for a sec and decided to let the nearest roommate know it. Baby A wound up and kicked at the wall it shares with Baby B, and MAN, did Baby A kick HARD! Poor Baby B went flying through its sac and then started flailing around. Baby A promptly went back to chilling in its little hammock-type space.

That was probably the most standout moment of the ultrasound today. Babies B and C weren’t fighting, but each were doing a whole lot of kicking and wiggling. They moved so much that their sacs looked completely different by the time the tech was done measuring all three. Little nutters.

I kinda love them. My triplets.

Today’s measurements, at 12 weeks, 1 day:

Baby A: curled up and likely not an accurate measurement, but the Crown Rump Length measured 5.39cm, putting Baby A right at 12 weeks. Its heart rate was 171 beats per minute.

Baby B: CRL measured 5.93cm or 12w3d; heart rate was 163 (I think? Lowish 160s) bpm.

Baby C: CRL measured 6.17cm or 12w4d; heart rate was 154.

Ever since Baby C (it’s had a different label at times but is always in the top left) made its grand reappearance, it’s been the bruiser of the bunch, always measuring the furthest ahead. Ninja Baby is a fighter, ladies and gentlemen!

Baby A’s head is to the bottom left of the sac. You can see the bones of its face (profile view) if you look for the brightest spots.

Baby B’s head is right in the center of the photo, and you can see a little hand right by its chin.

Baby C had the big closeup shot, and the bright line just above and to the right of its nose is its fingers. They look like four dots in person, so I’m guessing they’re fingertips? Also, I think that’s its thumb right by its mouth. Its legs are curled up, and you can just barely see the shape of its knee bend.

Also, above Baby A is Baby B, and it looks like it has both hands curled up in front of its face.

Babies! Three of them! OMG! PB&J!

So, I’m looking at the pic of Baby A and I’m all “What the hell is that up there?”, which confuses me because I’m generally pretty good at seeing what’s going on in u/s pictures. I had a moment, and then got the “OH! There’s THREE! In the SAME ute! Duh!” flash. It’s kinda fun, right? To sort of forget, and then remember? If it’s fun for me it must be WAY fun for you.

  32. Vivian says:

Those have to be the most amazing little babies in the whole wide world. They are beautiful!!! So very exciting!

  33. Stella says:

  34. Tameka says:

New rule. I’m not longer allowed to read Jenny’s triplet posts at work.

Love PB&J, Love you, Love life, Love when God shows me He is listening. That is all.
