At this point, we’re creeping up on two days old, but since I didn’t intend to update today, and it’s currently 1:30 a.m. EST, that’s where we’re at.

  • I’m on my iPod Touch in bed, so I hope this works. It’s been a while since I wrote HTML, but I think this is the bullet code. Here goes nothing.
  • I’m in bed because I fell asleep praying for Toby, Eleanor and Callista and woke in time to request my pain meds.
  • I’m feeling great and am up and walking. I haven’t walked more than just around the room because being on my feet more than a few minutes makes my incision start to sting, but the more I’m up, the better and steadier I feel.
  • Toby has made huge strides since his debut. He was on room air for a bit today but then bumped back to 25 percent oxygen (room air is 21 percent). He started phototherapy tonight for the start of jaundice, but he’s resting so peacefully under his billi lights. I think we have a future sunbather. He is an amazingly strong little man.
  • Speaking of strong, Eleanor and Callista continue to set wonderful examples for their big brother. Eleanor is the strongest, the doctors say, but Callista beat them all and had her bubble CPAP removed tonight. We hope she can keep it off. The girls are also showing the start of jaundice and may start phototherapy soon, depending on their morning test results.
  • Rob was able to help care for Toby and Eleanor today. He took Toby’s temperature, assisted in his diaper change and helped reposition and tuck Toby into his little nest of blankets and pillows. Eleanor had her care next, so Rob jumped in and took her temperature, washed her face, changed her (poopy!) diaper and helped reposition and nestle her into her cozy blankets. He did it all with such expertise that you would never know it was his first diaper-changing experience EVER. Also? He did it all with a big smile on his face. Watching him love his role as Daddy simply melts my heart.
  • I’m holding off on helping with care until I’m much more steady. Rob is doing an amazing job of stepping up and taking both our share of the work while I heal and make that magical milk we’re building a stash of.
  • I think that’s about it, aside from a photo that just turns me into a puddle of goo, taken while Rob was positioning and changing Eleanor’s blankets:
  • Good night!
