I read to cope. I read for a lot of reasons, but the most important reasons in recent years has been for the escape.

Reading is my favorite way to travel. No packing, no layovers, no getting lost and terrified of being eaten alive by USA haters and absolutely no need of a flux capacitor or plutonium to get that all-important 1.21 gigawatts.

Counting to 10 with deep breaths doesn’t do squat. Neither does the bottom of a chip bag or a bottle/glass of booze.

Ah, the life of a nerd. For virtually nothing (public libraries, holla!), I’m swept away to somewhere far, far away from any given stress of my day.

This is why I read a lot of YA. This is why I love historic fiction. Take me away. Far, far away. Let me forget, regroup and come back to reality fresh and ready for the next round.

I’m about to start my 12th new book of 2012 – never thought I’d get this far even though it isn’t that impressive. I used to blog about each book I read, but my free time has whittled away to allow only quick reviews or even just star ratings on my Goodreads account. If you’re interested in checking out what I’ve read and my reviews, spy on my Goodreads list. I also keep track of what I’m hunting down next. I’m a list-loving nerd, yes I am!

I could not agree more. Having a kindle allowed me to return to reading–something I had NEVER expected. I was a library book junkie but my lifestyle as a student and then mom really cut into reading time. Now, I put the girls to bed while reading with me wee night light.

Could NOT agree more! Books are the ultimate escape, I can’t get enough!

I love Goodreads! I get a lot of books from my mom and husband’s grandmother and use Goodreads to check that I haven’t read the book before. Silly but true.
